I'm Lucy, flower farmer at LES FLEURS. A love of flowers awakened in me as a small child playing in the ancient bluebell woods & meadows of rural Dorset. Wild posies were always part of our family tradition, simple and seasonal, from the tiniest violets in spring to huge vines of fluffy wild clematis, hung from the beams of our cottage kitchen in autumn.
I moved to le Cotentin peninsula in France with my partner Rich, our baby daughter and a cat back in 2001. After a great many adventures, in 2016 we fell for an art deco villa on a half hectare plot of fertile river valley soil in Le Perigord Noir, Dordogne. The family had grown by this point, we had become 4 humans, 3 horses, 2 cats and a dog, so a big old house & garden seemed like a good move.
We knew the land would be perfect for something, and prior experience in the international luxury wedding industry had raised my awareness of the environmental cost of events. At this time a global movement of slow flower farmers, often women, were blazing the trail towards sustainable floral design. It was clear that a new eco conscious clientele was emerging, giving many others, myself included, the confidence to try micro farming.
Starting with the tiniest of investments in a few packets of seeds during December 2019, along with plenty of encouragment from friends & family, and the support of our wonderful customers, we have developed a thriving, joyful little business.
Now I spend my days composing bouquets for sale in the local community , designing gorgeous event florals for an international clientele, & in the garden tending LES FLEURS. Just exactly like a kid in a sweet shop, or an ancient bluebell wood.

Our primary objective is to cultivate the land using regenerative methods such as permaculture to promote biodiversity and soil health, in symbiosis with nature's cycles.
We are proud to be members of the French slow flower movment, https://www.collectifdelafleurfrancaise.com/ offering a sustainable alternative to imported flowers for the local community, in addition to creating beautiful seasonal floral arrangements for weddings and other events. Our dried flowers and related products will also be available to order online from October 2022.
There is alot of hard work behind the scenes, but we always make time to celebrate life, love and slow flowers.
